Certificate III Aged Care Work
Course Overview
Aged Care is an important and growing industry offering a range of rewarding career possibilities. You will learn about the aged care sector, how to communicate effectively and meaningfully with older people, the range of care and supports available to older people and how to provide a professional standard of care and support to older people. A career in the aged care sector may lead you to work in residential aged care facilities, in community services organisations, or within the health industry. People with this qualification work in a range of positions such as Assistant in Nursing, Community Support Worker, Accommodation Support Worker, Carer, In Home Respite Worker, Personal Care Worker, Home Care Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Community Care Worker, Field Officer, or Community House Worker.
Entry Requirements
To enrol in this course you must be able to demonstrate approximately Year 10 levels of mathematics, reading and writing skills, or alternatively be enrolled in a relevant skills development course. Learning Options
You can study this course by distance, through flexible workplace training, or face-to-face in a classroom. This course is also now available online!
If you choose to complete this course through your workplace your trainer will work with you to design a program that is tailored to your job role.
You will be assessed according to your competencies and you will have a range of options for demonstrating your skills and knowledge. Your trainer will help you to plan your assessment to ensure the most suitable methods for your circumstances are used. The National College Australia assessment process looks at your whole role and assesses your competencies within these roles rather than on a unit by unit basis, thereby offering you the ability to demonstrate your skills doing what you do best, in an environment familiar to you.

You may select four electives from a range of Community Services or other relevant units available at Certificate III level. Recognition of Prior Learning and Experience
You may have already completed units in this course, gained skills or knowledge through other courses or training, or acquired the necessary skills and knowledge through experience. If so you may be able to receive formal recognition that can be credited towards your qualification.
