About This Course

The Certificate III in Disability Work will prepare you for work in disability care. This qualification is the standard entry qualification into a residential care facility or as a respite care worker in individual's homes or in the general community.

This type of work is about maintaining the personal care and daily activities of people living in community and/or residential facilities. It is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required to assist in behaviour support, individual health, emotional wellbeing, and community participation.

Delivery Modes
Online Learning

You can complete the Certificate III in Disability Work online. Online learning means you complete the entire course using the online learning platform. The content is presented per unit – you simply find the right unit and start reading. It’s like reading a book on your computer screen with images and pictures. When you finish a unit, you complete the assessment tasks, which are also done online. It’s easy, fast and a great way to achieve a Disability Work qualification.

Distance Learning

Distance learning is an alternative to online learning for completing the Certificate III in Disability Work at your own pace. Distance learning means you study using the textbooks that we mail to you. You work through the course materials at your own pace and return your completed assessments by mail. This method is designed for those who prefer the more traditional form of study using books in hard copy.

Blended Learning

Many of our students prefer to complete the Certificate III in Disability Work using a mix of both online learning and distance education. They do the reading tasks using the textbooks but complete the assessments online. It’s a practical approach to learning that offers great flexibility.

Clasroom and Workplace-based Learning

Work Experience

Some of the assessment tasks in the Certificate III in Disability Work relate directly to the work environment. For these units you will need verification from a workplace supervisor as evidence of competence. This means you will need to complete work experience for a minimum of 40 hours. You will need to make these arrangements yourself.

We suggest you start planning for work experience when you are ready to enrol in a course.

Please note that in order to work in any federally funded aged care service in Australia, you will need to undergo a criminal record check. You will be required to pay for any criminal checks that the College conducts on your behalf.
