The Certificate IV in Aged Care is for people already employed in aged care or those with experience in caring for older people. It is designed to develop your existing knowledge and skills in delivering the best service to your clients.

Those interested in gaining knowledge and skills to provide direct care to clients should study the Certificate III in Aged Care Work or Certificate III in Home and Community Care.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course you must hold these compulsory units from CHC30208 Certificate III in Aged Care (or equivalent).

Pre-requisite requirements can be achieved through a training program or through a recognition process.

If you do not hold these units, you are able to study them prior to the commencement of the Certificate IV program, subject to the per unit payment charge.

Traineeship
If you have been in full-time employment for 3 months or part-time employment for 12 months with the same employer, you may be eligible to complete the course as a government funded trainee.
Work Experience
Work experience is not mandatory. If you wish to complete the assessments that relate to workplace tasks as part of work experience, you will need to organise this yourself. Alternatively, your trainer may conduct these assessments by creating a simulated workplace environment for you.

Where work experience is a mandatory part of a specific program, the College will arrange work placements with you. Please note that work placements are subject to Police Checks, which we will conduct for you at a standard fee.
Recognition Assessment Do you have qualifications and/or life experiences related to the course content? If so, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) which could reduce your study load. Contact us for an application form.
