DISTANCE EDUCATION
MAKING THE CHOICE EASY

What is distance education? How is it different to Online Learning?

Online Learning or Distance Education?

Distance education is where you complete a qualification via correspondence. All of the course materials are sent to you in hard copy by post and our contact with you is handled by telephone and email. Online learning, on the other hand, uses an internet based course management system. All of the course content and assessment materials are studied via the online program.

Before you start, ask yourself:
  • When would be the best times for me to study and where?
  • Can I guarantee that these times will be uninterrupted by family, friends, or work needs?
  • Do I have the commitment to stick to these study times without giving up a session unless I really have to?
  • How much time am I able to put aside to complete this qualification? How many months or years?
  • If I don’t complete this course now, what will be different in a year’s time, or in two year’s time?
Getting Started with Distance Education is Easy

This is how easy it is to join our program:

1. Choose the course you are interested in. If you're not sure which qualification best suits you, contact us for a one-on-one discussion.

2. Send us an enquiry with the name of the qualification or simply enrol now.

3. One of our training coordinators will contact you within 48 hours to discuss the program.

4. If you haven't already enrolled, enrol in the course.

5. We will send you all your training materials by post and contact you by phone and email to help you get started.

It's as easy as that! The instructions are simple and easy to follow. The program tells you what you need to read, what your assessments tasks are, what you will need for a successful completion, and how you can submit them.

Online Learning or Distance Education - Which Should You Choose?

Some learners prefer to study via 'Distance Education' - others by 'Online Learning'.

Online learning is delivered using a computer and the internet so suits people who have internet access and enjoy using computers. Course materials, reading and assessment tasks are all completed online via a course management system.

Distance learning, on the other hand, is where we mail you the course materials in hard copy. You complete the reading and assessment tasks using pen and paper and mail them back to us. It's your choice. All of our courses are offered by online learning but if you prefer to study via distance education, we will arrange for the course materials to be sent to you...wherever you are!.

Is it the same qualification as a classroom-based course?

Yes, the qualification you receive when you study by distance education in Australia is exactly the same as you receive if you study at any campus or in any classroom.

What's different about studying by distance education? Are you ready to make the commitment?

You already know about the benefits of studying by distance education or online - your pace, your place, your own time...but what do you really need to know about studying in this mode?

Many other training organisations will tell you about bonuses but fail to highlight the challenges of studying by distance education. At National College Australia, our aim is that you walk away with a qualification, but we also want to make sure that you understand what your studies will entail. Distance learning programs are not like studying in a classroom where you have the trainer and fellow participants to engage, entertain and interact with. We will provide you with support from start to finish but you must have the commitment and discipline needed to study in this autonomous learning environment.
