Recognition of Prior Learning

If you have done previous study that is related to your course or have extensive experience, you may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning. This gives you credit for units in which you already meet the required standards and reduces the number of units you need to study to get your qualification.

Glossary of Terms

Do you find all the training terms confusing?

Certificate III Certificate III courses are nationally recognised qualifications that prepare you for employment in a variety of jobs.
Certificate IV Certificate IV training gives a nationally recognised qualification in more advanced skills and knowledge than Certificate III Training.
Distance Education Distance Education allows you to study at your own pace with printed materials.
Online Learning Online learning is a variation of distance education. Instead of learning from printed material you use a computer connected to the internet to view training materials in a variety of multimedia and written forms.
Recognition of Prior Learning Recognition of Prior Learning enables you to get credit for previous training you have done to reduce the number of units of study you need to do to achieve your qualification. Recognition of Prior Learning is also sometimes referred to as RPL or course credits.
Workplace Training Workplace training is delivered to you in your workplace. Many employers support training for their staff. National College partners with employers to meet the training needs of their staff and help them access government funded training, free training, or other subsidised training options where available.
