Pre-Requisites For the Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30212) Care

If you don’t already have the certificate, don’t let that discourage you, but that will be an important starting point. Before you can earn a Certificate IV in Aged Care (CHC40108), you need these compulsory prerequisites from a Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30212):

  • CHCCS411C Effectively work in the community
  • CHCICS303A Support the health and emotional wellness of individuals
  • HLTAP301B Be able to recognise body systems that are healthy in the context of health care

  • CHCPA301B Render care utilising a palliative approach

With a bit of patience and perserverence you can start with a Certificate III or the required units from the Certificate III, you’ll soon by on the way to developing your aged care career.

What Else Will You Need To Start or Progress Your Career?

Many employers will require you to have a current Senior First Aid certificate and a Federal Police Check. If you wish to work in community care you will also generally require a car and drivers’ license. Plan for these while you or doing your training to that on completion you are work ready. The police check needs to be done with your prospective employer – you cannot do this on your own before you are ready to start work.
