Smart and Skilled: Improving VET in NSW
VET stands for vocational education and training. It is focused on helping individuals access accredited training that develops the skills needed for the jobs they are applying for.
Smart and Skilled – A Significant Change
Smart and skilled is a signrificant change to how VET is managed and funded in NSW
We believe it will be beneficial to students as it will give them greater control and the ability to choose their training provider. It will be important, howeer, to ensure the program is funded adequately and that quality standards are maintained or improved across the vocational training sector.
Smart and Skilled had been expected to launch in July 2014. However, the launch has now been delayed until the beginning of 2015. This gives more time to prepare for the launch and will mean it coincides with related programs that will commence in other states.
