Why This Course?

This course provides a broad qualification in community services. It will prepare you for direct client work in a range of areas, including family and youth work, children’s services, counselling, mental health, and alcohol and drugs. It’s an entry-level qualification that’s ideal for people interested in working for a community services organisation. Many of our students start with this qualification and go on to specialise in a particular area, such as aged care or disability.

Course Structure

The Certificate III in Community Services (CHC32015) is made up of 12 units: five core units and seven elective units. It is delivered in the four Skills Groups below.

Unlike many other registered training organisations, we don’t have different educators marking different subjects. You’ll have one educator from start to finish. They’ll be in regular contact with you via phone and email throughout your course, to monitor your progress and give you the support you need.

We’ll also track your performance to make sure you don’t fall behind. If we notice that you haven’t logged on in a while, we’ll get in touch to see if everything is ok and help you resolve any issues that are making it difficult to complete your course.

Our goal is for you to walk away with a nationally recognised qualification, no matter what stands in your way. So if you have any issues with administration, payments, certification or anything else that may come up during your studies, our team is here to help.

Our work placements give you the skills and confidence you need to be job ready when you graduate. We don’t just tell you to get real-life experience in the industry, we help you find the right employer, organise your work placement and support you every step of the way.

How We Deliver The Course

We give you complete control over your study plan, so you can learn when and where it suits you.

Online

Your course will be delivered online through our innovative learning platform. It's interactive, easy to use and designed to keep you motivated throughout the course.

Mixed Learning

If you prefer to use printed workbooks, we can arrange to post them to you at an additional fee. You'll still have to log in to our learning platform to complete your assessment tasks.

Work Placements

This course requires a minimum of 120 hours of work experience. This is mandatory for anyone who isn’t already working in the industry. It’s a structured program that involves completing a set of written and practical tasks in the workplace.

We’ll help you find an employer who is willing to provide you with work experience and support you through the practical skills component of the course. If you’re already working in the industry, you’ll need to complete these tasks in your current workplace.

How You're Assessed

We use a combination of assessment methods to determine whether you have successfully completed each unit in the course. These include:

  • Short answer questions
  • Multiple choice questions
  • Written activities
  • Projects
  • Observation of practical skills
  • Logbooks
  • Workplace portfolios

Course Duration

This course should take you a maximum of 12 months to complete. You’ll need to spend about 23 hours per week studying to complete the course within this timeframe.

We understand that everyone learns at a different pace, so the time it takes you to finish the course will depend on how much you already know and how much experience you already have.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you’ll need to have access to the internet and a computer. You’ll also need some basic computer skills, such as using Microsoft Word documents, using the internet, downloading and uploading documents, using a digital camera, and downloading and saving videos.

If you’re new to all of this, don’t worry. Our learning platform is easy to use and we’ll provide you with extra support until you feel confident doing it by yourself. Don’t let the fear of technology stand in your way!

Working in aged care and community services also requires a certain level of fitness. There is quite a bit of walking and standing involved, and you may be required to help clients with mobility and transfers. If you’re not sure whether you’re up to it, get in touch with our team to discuss your options.

Recognition of Prior Learning

We believe you should get credit for the skills and knowledge you’ve gained from previous qualifications, work and life experience. After all, why should you spend time and money learning something you already know? Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that formally recognises your skills, knowledge and qualifications, so you can become qualified in your area of expertise. Applying for RPL is easy and our educators will guide you through every step of the process.

If you’ve studied at another registered training organisation in Australia, you can apply for a credit transfer. We’ll look at the subjects you’ve already studied and compare them to the subjects in our course, to see if there is a match. If there is, you’ll be awarded credit for the  units(s) or course.

When you successfully complete this course, you’ll receive a CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services.

Recognition of Prior Learning Fees

Assessment of RPL for a full qualification
$1320 or $199 per unit

*The Recognition of Prior Learning Application Fee is a non-refundable fee. It is to cover the cost of assessing an application to determine whether or not it is ready for RPL. If an application is deemed ready for recognition, this fee will be deducted off the total amount charged for the RPL application.

Other Fees and Charges

Cancellation Fee
You have a 10-day cooling-off period after we confirm your enrolment. If you change your mind within the first 10 calendar days of enrolment, you will be entitled to a refund less the cancellation fee. If you have a payment plan, the plan will be cancelled after the deduction of the cancellation fee. If. however, you change your mind from the 11th calendar day, a no-refund policy applies. If you have a payment plan and you change your mind from the 11th day, direct debits will continue and your payment plan will not be cancelled.$250
Course Transfer Fee
If you decide you’re in the wrong course and would like to transfer to another course, this fee is charged to cover the administration cost of setting you up in a new course. You will be also be required to pay additional charges for the cost of new course resources. Prices will vary depending on the courses you're transferring to and from.$150
Rollover Fee
We encourage you to finish your course within our recommended timeframe. But if you can’t, we can keep your enrolment active for three years. We charge an administrative fee if we have to transfer your enrolment into a second and third year (calculated from the date of enrolment). If you still haven’t completed the course by the third year, we’ll close your file and terminate your enrolment.$275
Course Materials Fee
We give you access to learning materials through our online platform, which is included in the course fee. If you prefer to have a hard copy of the materials posted to you instead, you will need to pay for the cost of a new set of printed materials. The charge will depend on the course and it will include postage and handling.
Upgrade Fee
This fee will be charged for a direct upgrade to an equivalent qualification. You can upgrade the full qualification or the Statement of Attainment. Please note this only applies to an upgrade where the new qualification is deemed equivalent and no Recognition of Prior Learning fees apply.$110
RPL Application Fee
This is a non-refundable fee charged for an initial assessment to see whether you are ready to apply for RPL.$45
Gap Training
This fee is charged per unit for any further training you may need to attain the full qualification after you have received RPL for part of a qualification. Starting from $199 per unit
Certificate Replacement Fee
This fee will be charged if you need a new certificate printed.$50

For direct credit transfers a per unit price will be deducted off the full course fee. Per unit prices vary on the qualification. A Course Advisor will calculate the discount for you.
